Over and over again we hear that it is the community that draws and binds families to St. John School. In community we celebrate the emergent gifts of every student. We celebrate award winning essays, successful food drives, victories of beginning readers, and students’ shared reflections on the Gospel. The Catholic educator is a community builder. St. John teachers realize that there is a strong correlation between learning and a community centered environment.

Focused attention on courtesy and respect for others as children of God form the basis for daily interactions. We welcome the challenge of recognizing diverse student learning styles, providing a positive learning environment, and attending to teacher-student and student-student relationships.

The creation and diligent maintenance of a nurturing learning community have a great deal to do with how effective our educational program is for our children. St. John School strives to foster a learning environment that is “humanly and spiritually rich, one that exudes a common spirit of trust and spontaneity.” Congregation on Catholic Education, 1988
