The preschool at St. John strives through Catholic principles and Montessori philosophy to create a loving environment that will allow the student to grow in faith, social grace, discipline, and academics.
Morning (8:30-11:00am) and afternoon (12:30-3:00pm) sessions are available five days a week. A three day (M, T, W) session is also available.
Extended care is available from 7 am to 6:30 pm year round.
Goals:
- To develop the potential of the child by direct experience in a Montessori Prepared Environment and with the use of didactic materials
- To foster in the child the Montessori principles of order, concentration, coordination, and independence
- To foster confidence through successfully dealing with new and different tasks and situations
- To build on family love relationships in order to initiate children to God's love growing within them
- To pass on Catholic tradition to the child through the celebration of the liturgical seasons
- To prepare the child through a broad experimental base for the ongoing program at St. John School by developing basic concepts of math and phonics.
