Journalism Club

The St. John School Journalism Club is a pilot program for the 2011-12 school year. The first 20 seventh and eighth grade students to submit the below form will have the privilege of being part of the newspaper staff.

After the first 20 slots are filled, students will go on a waitlist.

Once selected, participants will need to print out the permission form, have their parents sign the slip, and return to the school office with payment.

Participants in the journalism club will learn how to write journalistically while building confidence as writers. Students will conduct interviews, make independent decisions, and learn to think on their feet. They will explore campus topics related and report on sports, music, poetry, art, different career paths, perspectives and the interconnectedness of the world. Students will also learn about the current state of journalism, the impact of social media and how blogs work. The St. John Eagle will publish both a print and electronic version of the newspaper.
