Mrs. Thomason's Kindergarten Bears

Dear Parents,

Welcome to the Kindergarten Bears!  I am so happy to have your child in my classroom!

Over the first few weeks of school, we will review basic math and language arts skills.

For the two first weeks we will have Bears as our central theme.  We will be using this theme for Language Arts, Math, and Social Studies.  It is a great way to introduce your child to kindergarten in a fun and loving way.  Throughout the year our classroom will be known as the “Bears.”

I always encourage independence in the students, so I want to remind you that quick goodbyes are the best for helping your child follow our morning procedures.

Dismissal will take place in the play pit. Wait for us to open the gate and bring your child to you.

Lesson Plans for Week of September 7 - 10

Tuesday: Bear Unit begins!

Today we will have a fire drill and learn about school rules, playground rules, and other important procedures.  We will learn facts about bears.

Wednesday: Today we will practice school rules and talk about the classroom and lunchroom signal.  We will name different types of bears.

 

Thursday: Today we will learn about rules of kindness and politeness with our friends and families.  We will compare and contrast bears with humans.

 

Friday: Today is Teddy Bear Day!  The children get to bring a teddy bear from home to spend the day with them.  Today we will have a “Teddy Bear Picnic”.

 

REMINDERS

 

 

Bring backpacks and homework folders back to school every day. Important school notes and letters will be going home in this folder.

 Bring a snack and a lunch every day starting next week.  If your child is having hot lunch, please let your child know before going to school and make sure she or he has a snack for the day.

Dismissal will always be in the play pit for kindergarten.
