Bienvenidos!
Welcome to the 2011-12 school year. This will mark my eleventh year in the classrooms of St. John School. The goal of the Middle School Spanish program is to provide students with authentic language exchange opportunities. Graduates of the Spanish program are competent in basic Spanish communication. More importantly, students are aware of the many Spanish dimensions that make up the web of culture and community. With the growing presence of Hispanics in our immediate communities the importance of speaking Spanish is paramount to student success. In 2009 Spanish speakers made up 16 percent of America’s population. The Pew Research Center forecasts that number to surge to 29 percent by 2050. Sister School and Parish News
Our first pizza lunch will take place on Sept. 28. Special "gracias" to all the parents who assist in providing and serving the lunch. This is great opportunity to support our Sister Parish and School in Peru. Look for further pizza dates and information in NewsViews. The Amigos de Peru parish group meets the first Tuesday of the month at 7:00pm in Quigley Hall to discuss ways to support the mission of our sister relationship.
