Paul Klee Broken Window Project (Mrs Kelly, 3rd Grade, March 2011)

Project Led By: Rachel Oximana
Posted By: Rachel Oximana (oximana@comcast.net)
Objective: Learning about the art work of Paul Klee and cubism.
Duration: 60 minutes (10 min intro Paul Klee's art + 50 min project time)
Instructions: Paul-Klee-Inspired-Lesson-Plan.pdf
Notes: This project should be completed over 2 art sessions. The first session is used to sketch the image onto watercolor paper with pencils, "cracking the window" by placing a point on the art piece and then drawing the lines in pencil, and then tracing the broken window lines with Elmer's glue. The effect is much better if the image the student draws is very simple with not a lot of details (i.e., eyes, small items). The second art session is used to fill in the spaces with color using watercolor paints.
